ROBERTO CAZ QUILLAY is the President of Sangay Foundation. Ecuadorian born, in 1991 he founded the Association of Native Guides of Altar and Sangay Volcanoes, an innovative initiative within the andean and ecuatorian ecotourism, after becoming, in 1989, the first native to climb an iced peak (Sangay). He successfully leaded a great many national and international expeditions in Sangay National Park, which turned him into the most renowned amongst the local guides and the deepest connoisseur of the Sangay highlands. He lives in Alao, with his wife Grigoria and his five children. He works to conserve Sangay Park and to improve the life conditions of his people.
